This is not a typical spring break story, but here it is: I was about 14 at the time and my parents took me to Miami Beach. Now, the last time my parents has been there was in the 1940s for their honeymoon. They were there during the heyday of that area. When we returned, it was a sad, rundown kind of place. The hotels they remembered as grand were threadbare. The people on the streets were not glamorous, they were on oxygen. But as a budding writer, I loved it. The trip gave me tons of material.

Let's see.....I work a ton so, locked myself in my house and told everyone I was in Arizona! HA! Complete rest and relaxation with movies and crosswords and nothing but time! Sometimes it's the little things...

I was studying abroad in France (consequently "a broad" as well - I'd just come out, got a girlfriend and made whoopee for the first time ever!) and my circle of friends and I had two weeks to travel. I spent my 21st birthday in front of the Eiffel Tower during the day (my favorite underdog) and the night drinking and laughing in front of Notre Dame. We spent week 2 travelling through Italy, we camped in Florence (I didn't realize how cold it actually gets outside at night in a mediterranean country!), got sunburned walking through the ruins of ancient Rome, avoided creepy men in Naples, and tried not to sprain our ankles walking through Pompeii. A girl doesn't get a better Spring Break than that!

I've never experienced a "spring vaction" per se, but this year might be the time -- hoping to get to singles' weekend at PTown. Even at 56 it's not to late to have fun!!!

Last Year we did the Olivia thing for the first time. How we all love our first time at anything. We were together for almost thirty years and it felt like the first year of meeting. I was so proud of our pictures, and of holding hands. The best was the commitment ceremony, as we were throw out of the Catholic church the first time. How sweet it was......
Thanks to all the women that make Olivia and the performers, etc........when are you going Kate....this year??
