More frequent flyer miles/on the road

Debra Shapiro, MD writes:

We just returned from KC's fabulous Santa Rosa, Calif. show. This was part of the Marin County's Pride weekend and the Luther Burbank Center now owned by Wells Fargo Bank was packed to the rafters with eager dykes of all ages, shapes, colors and even genders! Kate met with us for 2 hours before her performance in her hotel room for lunch...

HA Corner
[Humor Activism]

Let's put some fun in our own fundamentalism! Use your imagination! Tell us some of the witty, gay civil protests you've done.

We do recommend for example that you adopt a church in your neighborhood and while you're out on your round of Saturday errands, if you see a wedding going on, make a visit. When the minister gets to the part about "Are there any objections to this union?" stand up and make a little speech. You don't need to know the people. Something along the lines of, "I don't think anyone should be able to get married, until all people can get married." Then go off to the grocery store.

We'd love to hear a story about some young lesbian rappellers scaling the face of Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota and hanging the banner that says, "Four Men for Freedom of Choice."

Jennifer Droelle: Loving and Learning

Hello Kate,

I felt compelled to write a letter expressing my overwhelming gratitude for an amazing performance. My girlfriend Shelly and I laughed, embraced, kissed, laughed, hugged, and laughed again. Every event or gathering I attend where I am surrounded by excepting, loving, wonderful people is truly a gift. It was an amazing evening!!!! Watching you get a kick and laugh out of yourself was one of the best parts. After 25 years you are still touching new generations of women and inspiring them to be true to themselves and fight for what is right. I live by what I feel "God" (I use that in quotes purposefully) truly intended. We were put on this earth to do 4 things: Love (to love ourselves and those around us), Learn (to work as hard as we can to learn everything we can), to do more good than harm, and to contribute to the greater good. Thank you for adding to all of the above. You are truly an inspiration to the community and to humankind I say that will all sincerity. As I look at the clock I realize you are about to open at the Ark one of my favorite places I wish I was there to enjoy a second night. Thank you again for a remarkable evening. Keep giving society a kick in the ass.

On a lighter note Shelly and I discussed on our walk back to the Radisson how amazingly, beautiful you are and we hope, currently both 32, that we are the same after 25 years and thank you for inspiring a passionate night.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Droelle
