Climate Change - The CD
===========================================

----------------------------
The long awaited Climate Change CD is now available!

Photo: http://kateclinton.com/img/climatechangeCD-cover-200px.jpg

In a climate when most truth is inconvenient, trusted veteran weathergirl/comic Kate Clinton tracks the rapidly changing affronts of homophobia, the high atmosphere clashing of religious and secular systems, the aftermath of hurricanes of government neglect and the low pressure of despair. Unlike other reporters, content to report from the comfortable studio of complacency, she reports in her little yellow slicker of comedy, buffeted by the winds of war, almost blinded by the driving sleet of sexism. Based on her daily analysis, and long range study of weather patterns, she forecasts the high pressure of working for peace and that it will indeed get lighter toward the daybreak of justice.

Watch for more details of our spontaneous, ingenious spectacle. Sage the Date! Tell your friends.

Kate's Got a Brand New Vlog!

One fan's response: "Not only in your eloquent synopsis of the Easter celebrations and rebirths on Sunday - but also political summary of Obama's very well delivered speech on race. Not sure if HRC could do a speech on the gender diaspora as well as Obama's on race but would be nice to hear. Yes funnily enough JC managed to move from Cristmas to Easter in 3 months- yet the democrat election is pending for well over 6months by now...... :) Nuf said, But anyways; nice vlog by you as always!"

In addition to posting in her award-winning blog, CommuniKate, Kate has a new vlog: Hilarity Clinton '08! Kate's video blog is hosted featured on Logo Online's Visible Vote '08 as well as AfterEllen.com.

"As we are fast coming upon our annual pride weeks of events. I simply feel that I must share something with you, my friends that reminds us of our constant fight... I do not tell this story for sympathy but for education to the younger generation... Here goes (only few friends and family know this story) ... on the final night of Miss Gay Oklahoma 2002 (Kitty Bobs year) I was robbed of seeing one of my oldest and dearest friends win his much deserved title because as I left during a break to go to my car to get money out of my locked glove compartment...as I was getting out of my car I was grabbed from behind...dragged in front of my car so no one could see what was happening. I was kicked at the base of my skull three times...flipped over kicked in the face...robbed and basically left for dead. My beloved sister Kathy got me to my doctor. Luck was on my side I simply only had one side of my face that looked like raw hambuger meat. The next cognitive memory I had is six weeks later. The reason I have decided to share my story is that this was only the beginning of severe POST TRAUMATIC STRESS, I remembered nothing of the attack for six years just a simple light in the corner of my eye that resembled the dim light similar to the light under which my car was parked sparked what can only be described as a constant loop of the attack happening over and over again. We my friends deserve our Pride and our justice but there are those who still hate us enough to commit acts of horrible violence. Please when traveling to and from your local bars please travel in two's or a group. This is the beginning of a celebration for us and I will be there front and center to be counted! Celebrating 21 years of pride in Oklahoma City and to remember those who were not as lucky as I. You see I WON...I survived I'm here and I will fight to my death before another brother, sister, bi-sexual or transgendered American is attacked in my presence.....FIGHT AND BE COUNTED!!!!! OUR TIME IS NOW! Please everyone have a fabulous Pride weeks and show the world what great things we have to offer...God Bless You All!" - Bobby Tarr

Page One: K8T is reading... Beyond (Straight and Gay) Marriage: Valuing All Families under the Law

Photo: http://kateclinton.com/img/straight-gay-marriage-front.jpg

"Marriage as a family form is not more important or valuable than other forms of family," writes gay rights activist and American University law professor Nancy Polikoff, "so the law should not give it more value." In Beyond (Straight and Gay) Marriage, Polikoff criticizes the conservative "marriage movement" for blaming all social problems on the decline of life-long heterosexual marriage. She also takes issue with the gay rights "marriage-equality movement" for attributing the legal problems facing same-sex couples to the inability to marry, rather than to the "special rights" inappropriately granted married couples. When marriage serves as the bright dividing line between those relationships that legally matter and those that do not, Polikoff notes, countless families suffer. Her valuing-all-families solution is true to the roots of the gay rights movement and consistent with decades-old legal changes that have made marriage matter less."

Regards From Rochester

Photo: http://kateclinton.com/img/IMG_6851.jpg
From ImageOut Event: Michael Gamilla, Tim Maines, Kate, and David Gardner

Kate,

What a pleasant surprise to turn on the radio this morning and hear your chipper voice, expounding on the current political climate of our country. I was smiling the whole way to work. I considered calling in to the station and exposing you for the life-changing molder of our youth that you are, but thought better of it.

I can't believe you are going to be performing this Friday night in my fair city. I, as it always seems to be, will be out of town this weekend. I haven't seen you perform live in about a hundred years. For some reason, whenever you are in Rochester, I have something else going on. And in a wonderfully ironic twist, this weekend I will be in Ithaca, the alternative lifestyle capital of NY. (I'm camping with a bunch of Boy Scouts - please refrain from commenting on that)

Hope you have a great show, and I hope you make it back this way before too long.

All the best,
Dan Nistico

Breathe

Kate,

I am a huge fan. I have seen some of your stand up work as well as your Vlogs on ellen. com and I have to say your sense of humor is so right on. I was watching some of your vlogs last night and my wife is looking at me like "What is wrong with you... breathe honey... breathe." I was laughing so hard. I hope you enjoyed our wonderful state of Arizona. It sounded like you were in Sedona with all the Red Rock, sprirtual, Reiki and all that new age, lesbian, croc wearing stuff. Keep up the good work and I hope I will be able to come see you in Tempe!!

Jumping On The Bandwagon

Can't believe you have been doing this for years, and I am just now jumping on the "Kate Clinton Bandwagon!" But I totally dig what you bring to the table--your humor, political views, messages for justice and equality--it totally rocks! I missed you when you came to University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University, but I did review the write-ups from your visits. I am also amazed to find another loyal fan of Napolean Dynamite! Keep up the good work!

Melrose High

Hey Kate,

I am sure you don't remember me. I was one of your students at Melrose High School in the early 70's. I was a quiet kid and didn't get into too much trouble in school. I think I had you for English or Literature if I remember correctly. Anyway, I was reading a book of stories about how teachers made an impact on kids. This got me to thinking about my teachers and I remembered you. You were young and hip and wore these cool Gloria Steinem glasses. One particular incident I have etched in my mind, all the students had to give a one on one oral book report to you. As usual, I hadn't picked up the book until the night before, and then just skimmed through it. When my turn came to give you my report I gave the overview and you quickly said, "Brian are you shitting me, you didn't read this book." It was the first time I ever heard a teacher swear, and I was bagged. But after that point I was always prepared, not just for your class but for all the other as well. You were a great teacher, thanx.

Just want to let you know you're thought of.

My Best
Brian
